WATER COOLER CONVERSATIONS....APRIL FOOLS DAY

Today is April Fools Day…or All Fools Day…as it’s known in some circles. According to Wikipedia…the day is marked by the commission of hoaxes and other practical jokes on anyone.

Traditionally, in some countries…the jokes only last until noon. If someone plays a trick on you after 12pm today…they’re called and “april fool”.

The orgins of April Fools Day are as follows: it’s believed that it happened in France back in 1582, when Pople Gregory introduced the Gregorian calendar. That lead to New Years Day being moved from the end of March to January 1st. However…some people continued to celebrate it at the end of March – and they were known as April Fool’s. Then – people started inviting April Fool’s to non-existent parties at the end of March and that morphed into the pranks we see today!!!

Some of the most memorable pranks:
…back in 1998, Burger King ran an ad in USA Today, and the New York Times, announcing that they people could Whopper for left-handed people, whose condiments were designed to drip out the right side.
…in the 1950o’s, a Dutch television program claimed that the Leaning Tower of Pisa had, had enough…and it fell over
…in 2005, a news story was posted on the official NASA website reporting to have pictures of water on Mars…and lots of it!!!

Believe it or not – however…it really is true: April Fool is the codename for the spy and double agent who allegedly played a key role in the downfall of Saddam Hussein.
