And then there were 10? I think Tiger Woods has a problem. He must need a LOT of attention..and let's face it...a famous man is going to get a lot of attention...especially while travelling without his wife.
There were reports that a blonde woman was taken out of the Woods home by ambulance at around 2:30 this morning. They won't say who it was...Elin, Tiger's wife is blonde, her twin sister who is there is also blonde but there is supposed to be another blonde in the home...Elin's mom? So...we probably won't find out who was taken to hospital til later today maybe even tomorrow. Could we hazzard a guess at who it was? Elin? After even more women stepped forward to say they had been with her hubby? Her mother? It would be quite alarming to hear your child is going through this kind of craziness any age.
It's a story that you don't want to hear any more about until the next page is turned. This story is turning into a novel. Sad, but true.
Talk to you tomorrow!!

I thought we were done with roasting Tiger Woods...until this morning when word came that THREE more women have stepped up saying they have also had affairs with him. WOW.
How do you think his wife Elin is dealing with this? You know, the one who gave him two children over the past couple of years? I'm thinking that if she only knew about the original three...maybe there may have been the slightest glimmer of hope...but if she had no idea about the three latest women...I think Tiger's marriage is done for. That's just my opinion though....
On a lighter note....A new study from Scandinavia says cell phones are not harmful to your health. Unless youhave a jealous wife with a three iron and you've been using the cell phone to call your girlfriends.

Happy December!!!
How about that Tiger Woods? Sick of that story yet? Just goes to show ya, no matter how big an icon they are, they will be scrutinized if something goes amiss....anyways...I'm sure there are many different ways to look at the story...like this one...how could he not? With all these women hitting on him, he is a huge star afterall...well, that's not how I would see it but there are those out there that would. Might I add, mostly men.
When I heard the initial story Saturday morning, that Tiger was unconscious after he had hit a fire hydrant, then a neighbours tree...and his wife Elin had to smash a window with a golf club in the SUV to get him out...I wondered...did she run down the driveway with a golf club in her hand after she supposedly heard a crash? Or was she chasing the SUV with the golf club? I am guilty of thinking "he cheated...and she caught him". Looks like I was right. Yikes.

Happy Tuesday!
This time tomorrow we'll be on the road for our short jaunt to San Diego! I say short jaunt because I just can't face the reality of a three hour drive, then a one hour flight, then a four hour flight to get there. I am not a fan of flying but will do it to get to vacation location faster!!!
Women, prepare to take a hit over the next week as Danny will likely have easier questions for the men on the Battle of the Sexes. Just be nice to him and keep in mind I will make him pay when I return. lol!!!
I can't sit still any longer to blog more so I am off to serve lunch to Cheadles Law Office!!! Have a great week!!!

I have no idea how I did it, but I managed to mess up my sign in to this blog. Finally have sorted things out and we are back!!! Woohoo!!!
So..this morning, ....I didn't tell Danny his fly was open...shared it on facebook...and some of our fb friends helped determine whether I should tell him or not...eventually I did. I think there will be some retaliation...I'm not scared though.

The Christmas Carol was amazing!!! We saw it in 3D - that just added to it.
It's hard to believe that Sesame Street starts it's 40th season today! And to hear that the DVD release of the original shows comes with a warning about it being mainly for adults is a surprise as well. Seems the way we did things back then is just not suitable for today's kids....

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the debut of Sesame Street – and with that…comes….these interesting facts:
Sesame Street is the pioneer in contemporary educational entertainment.
Sesame Street is well known for it’s Muppets characters created by Him Henson. It premiered on November 10th, 1969 – and is the longest running childrens show.
Did you know that up until the late 60’s…the use of televsion as an educational tool was “unproven” and a “revolutionary concept”.
How about the songs from Sesame Street? They really have become ‘timeless classics’. Including the shows theme song; “I Love Trash” written for Oscar The Grouch; “Rubber Duckie” written for Ernie; “Being Green” for Kermit The Frog; “C Is For Cookie” for the Cookie Monster
Sesame Street is seen in over 120 countries. It’s earned 118 Emmies, more than any other tv series.

Are we spoiled or what? A beautiful weekend was had by all...weren't we getting snow in October? I think Mother Nature is a little confused lately, perhaps feeling bad for treating us so poorly all last summer...
Tomorrow marks the 40th anniversary of "Sesame Street", for many of us it was a favorite! I loved Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, Elmo, and Sam...that guy that would call you over with an "sssssssst, wanna buy an S?" Hilarious! We'll be talking about that tomorrow.
We are going to see "A Christmas Carol" tonight...in 3D!! It's a 2hour 47 minute movie and I cannot wait! I love everything Christmas, so to get into the spirit with a movie like this, well...lookout!! Plus, add popcorn...and I am in my happy place.

Wow…this guy really didn’t feel like going to work! A 29-year-old Edgewater, Colorado video store employee who claimed he’d been attacked and stabbed has now confessed that he stabbed himself because ... he didn't want to go to work. Police became suspicious after hours of interviews…and the man then confessed.
What will scientists think of next? A DNA test that can tell a woman as young as 18 how long she has left to start a family is being developed by scientists. The Daily Mail reports that by monitoring the speed of the biological clock, the test can reveal how many eggs a woman has left -- and give early warning of declining fertility.
The Olympic torch relay is making it’s way across the country and now come complaints that there are more torch relay ceremonies held in Conservative ridings than in the ridings of opposition members

Are you dressing up in costume for work tomorrow? I'm still not sure...mainly about what to wear..hmmm...will have to think about this one.
I'm reading the pamphlet that we got in the mail regarding the H1N1 virus. I like that it has symptoms listed...perhaps this will help ease the fear in some about what you might experience if you catch it. There are a lot of colds and flus going around this fall. Good to be informed.
I really like the "Plan Ahead" section where it suggests you to talk to your family and friends about helping each other our during the flu season. It also goes on to say that we should all stock up on pain and fever medications...a cold and flu pack would be a great idea! And...you should also stock up on some easy meals. Something you can heat up in a microwave or quickly on the stove. Planning ahead is always a good plan.
Keep your hands clean, eat well and stay home if you are sick!!!!
Talk to you tomorrow!!
Most people call it a cell phone – but…other names include: mobile phone, wireless phone, cellular device.
Who do you have to thank for the invention of the Cellular Phone? Here’s a quick history:
American Telephone and Telegraph thought about creating a wireless phone way back in 1915.
However, they were afraid that this great technology would undermine its monopoly on wired services in the United States.
It took 63 years for the first cell phone to be released to the public in Japan. It was invented by a man named Martin Cooper in 1973 while he was working for Motorola. The cost to the customer: $3,500
In Canada alone, there are over 18 million cell phone subscribers. Around the world…that number reaches closes to 3 billion cell phone users.
A Media Network survey from about 3 years ago claimed that 6% of Grade 4 children owned cell phones. By Grade 11…that number reached 70%.
A study by the Motorola company found that 1 in 10 cell phone subscribers have a second phone that is kept secret from the other family members!!
Did you know that there’s something called "cell phone addiction"? It’s officially defined as the inability of a person to live without their cell phone.

Tuesday Tiara Day is always a pick-me-up...and today, it's turned into a great pick-me-up! Danny and I bet that if the men lost today, he would wear my tiara during tomorrow's battle! Low and behold...the men lost!! So, I'll record it and add the video to our facebook! Yes!!!!
We are going to share an email from Traffic Sgt. Glen Porter tomorrow that he sent after he learned both Danny and I immediately got on our phones IN OUR VEHICLES when we left work. We both called our spouses, who both asked us why we were talking on the phone in our vehicles when we had just spent over an hour talking on the air with Glen about the new Cell Phone Ban...that took effect yesterday!! He was very forgiving...and he shared a story about catching a young lady on the phone in her vehicle. We'll share that with you too!! My phone is going in my purse so I am not tempted. We'll see how that works!!!
Talk to you in the morning!!

A survey of 4,000 film buffs finds that these are the all-time favorite animated films…and maybe yours too: Ice Age; Finding Nemo; The Lion King; Shrek…and #1 on the list: Toy Story.
Get the flu and you could be fired. Do you think it's fair? If you come down with the H1N1 strain and show up to work, should you get the boot too? Employees of at least one company in Arizona, who have flu symptoms or a temperature of at least 100.4 degrees must stay home from work or risk being disciplined or fired under a new policy. Employees with flu symptoms would be required to stay home until at least 24 hours after the fever ends.
Do you have a goldfish? Did you know that your goldfish can get a headache from you tapping on the tank.

My bestest bud and I have both eaten our way out of our jeans. It's a sad situation, so we decided that we need to hammer down and commit to our workouts and runs. We talked about what days and what we would do on those day and set it all up. Then after the conversation she said, "I'm out for Friday and Saturday"....figures. No, you cannot absolutely commit to everything because we do have lives and she is going on a work retreat but it is funny after going through all the planning to end the conversation with saying you aren't available...already. It's funny.
I do need to be in good shape before I meet with my Trainer though, don't want him to SEE that I have done next to nothing since I saw him last about....3 months ago. Again, it's funny because it's all my fault. Work, kids and more work have eaten all my free time...and it's still my own fault for not MAKING TIME for workouts. So...here we go again...no falling off the wagon this time.
Let's see what happens from here......

The Toronto Maple Leafs are having a rough go at it with the start of the 2009/2010 NHL season. However, keep this in mind…go back to 1967…they lost ten straight games…BUT – went on to win the cup that year!!
A Harris Poll asked people…what are you favorite tv shows of all time. Here’s a few that made the list: Seinfeld, Friends, Star Trek, The Simpsons. #2 on the list: MASH…and #1: CSI
A wine distributor in San Diego received a credit card application from First Premier Bank (the 10th largest issuer of Visa and Mastercards in the U.S). He was pre-approved with a credit of $20,000. He was intrigued…so, he decided to call and activate the card. Ready for this: they told him that the interest rate on the credit card would be….79.9%. No joke. He said “no thanks”.

It's not supposed to snow when Halloween is just two weeks away. It is supposed to stay pleasantly mild until November 1st...so hopefully we'll get some snow here and there and it will melt away. Then it's time to get out the CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS!!!!!
I can't wait this year to decorate...mainly because decorating and baking and getting ready for Christmas is something our family does together so it's tons of fun!!! Plus with the little ones getting older and understanding what's going on it makes it so much more fun!
Joe and I are heading out to camp next month with a group of people we went to Jamaica with last December...Charlene, Sherry and I ran the half marathon there, while our husbands waited at the finish line for us. When we were finished, we were one side of the fence, where the runners are fed banana's, cookies and drinks...coconuts which we drank straight from..and..well...Red Stripe Beer. Yes it was 8:15 am..but when in Jamaica...
The guys were also huge supporters, with their huge Canadian flag they held up as they cheered us on. It was great to have them there...until they asked for foot rubs because they had been standing for hours waiting for us to come back. Goofs.
We were called "the fun group" because I don't think very much time passed that we weren't laughing and having a great time in Jamaica!!!
We haven't seen them since so it will be a great Jamaica Reunion weekend!!! but there will be no half marathon.....

A new portrait by Leonardo da Vinci may have been discovered thanks to centuries-old fingerprint and palm print. A Montreal-based forensic art expert, said that a fingerprint on what was presumed to be a 19th-century German drawing of a young woman has convinced art experts that it's actually a Leonardo. Canadian-born art collector Peter Silverman bought "Profile of the Bella Principessa" at the Ganz gallery in New York on behalf of an anonymous Swiss collector in 2007 for about US$19,000. One London art dealer now says it could be worth more than US$150 million. If experts are correct, it will be the first major work by Leonardo to be identified in 100 years

What a weekend!
We've got a small family..but when we get together...it isn't really that small! There's my mother, myself and my little family, my brother and his family, along with Kayla, Max and their kids, there's also Victoria's boyfriend Daniel...15 of us in total.
The turkey was amazing...the company even better.
After dinner, we played a game of Trivial Pursuit...Genus Edition. Man, that is old!!! Most of the questions are outdated or didn't make sense to us. Didn't help that when you mouthed the answer to someone, they still got it wrong! Good times.
Next time it will be Cranium! Let's see how the family handles that!
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.

If the contract is finalized, Canada will pay the woman's company up to $270,000 to tutor Canadians assigned to NORAD, a joint U.S.-Canadian command in Colorado Springs. The Canadian military is trying to improve its French after faring poorly in a review. It says the company they are looking at is the only one it found in Colorado Springs that understands the military’s language program.
In BUDAPEST, Hungary it was a night for unnatural beauties Saturday night. Contestants showed off breast implants, nose jobs and face lifts in Miss Plastic Hungary 2009, to promote the benefits of plastic surgery.Contestants were at least 18 years old and there was a special category for women over 30. The winner of the contest won an apartment, the first runner-up a car and the second-runner up diamond jewelry worth $10,800. The plastic surgeons of the top three winners will also receive awards.

An error shows TWO CN Towers side by side...it's said to be an oversight in the way the shots are edited together. The Google Maps feature launched in Canada Oct.7 and displays images on the Internet from a street-level perspective. Google has been driving around and

People who stick to a Mediterranean diet, which is rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish and nuts, are far less likely to suffer from clinical depression than people who don't follow this food plan, according to a new study from the University of Navarra in Spain.
Coming in time for Christmas (not sure if will be here or not) is a wireless, handheld TV that's just a TV, and it will have its own dedicated network to ensure everything runs smoothly. The PTV measures 4.4 inches by 3 inches and is a half-inch thick. Touch-screen technology allows users to channel surf with a swipe of the finger. Personal Television, or PTV, is designed, in part, to appeal to parents who might want to keep their children busy with television while out and about while not having to surrender their phones to their youngsters
Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) is asking passengers to relieve themselves before boarding, on the theory that they'll be lighter. It hopes the reduced weight will save enough fuel to eliminate 5 tons of carbon emissions a month

Tomorrow Bob and I are going to experiment with some information we found today....
An Australian researcher claims our brains generate unconscious messages every 10-to-15 seconds during speech and if speech is played backwards it can reveal our true thoughts. He also suggests ‘baby talk’ from toddlers is actually backward speech.
We don't have toddlers in the studio...so we are going to experiment by playing pieces of our conversations backwards!! Wonder what it will reveal!!?!!

Delivering Shower Radio's was fun last night! We started on Ridgecrest which neither Danny or I have been down before. We drove around a bit before deciding where we needed to go next, and while we did so, we drove over the bridge on Central Avenue by the golf course, there were about four men I saw who looked up and waved, so I waved back. Danny who was driving, waved and HONKED!!! So, while these 4 men waved to say hello, their friend was setting up to putt...don't know if we ruined his shot or not...
Then it was off to Central Avenue off of Oliver Road. We were invited to two dinners and offered wine at two other homes! Unfortunately, we had to continue delivering. Fortunately, the weather was decent, no wind storm like last Monday night.
Today Danny was singing a song that was coming up on the show, and when I heard him, I asked him if he was joking. He was singing the song "Baby Come Back"...and he was singing "and we gotta move tout de suite"....he actually thought that was the line. It's "any kind of fool could see"...but I can see how he could have mixed it up...I guess.
That helped us decide what to do on tomorrow's show...we are talking about misheard songs...so if you have a song that you sang that you always thought you knew the words to but found out you were wrong...please share with us!!!!

So what's wrong with a military helicopter landing in an empty baseball field to run across the street for a burger?
It happened last Thursday, when the chopper landed in Kenora to refuel. The reports say there was no food at the airport, so the pilot found a nearby A&W across the street from the ball diamond.
Now there are reports that the incident will be investigated.
Do we really have that little confidence in the judgement of our military? They would not have landed where they did if caused any kind of threat to those around them.
Seriously, while I think they should have been supplied food for a long journey...from the garrison at Canadian Forces Base Edmonton to Thunder Bay then on to Quebec, that's quite a long day to go without food. And if there was nothing at the airport, who can blame them for travelling a bit to the nearest drive through? Okay, they may have been supplied with food for all we know...but they were hungry enough to make a stop....
It made for a fun story to talk about.....

According to a new British study, left-handed children are more likely to enjoy school and get along with their teachers than those who are right-handed. The study of 2,000 kids aged 7-to-11 found a larger percentage of lefties look forward to heading off to school each day and are also more likely to describe their relationship with their teachers as ‘very good’.

If you have kids you will understand why at this time of year posting information about bullying and making fun of others is important.
It doesn't just pertain to kids though, this covers adults in the workplace as well. If you are bullied, which can include being made fun of, you may want to consider the reasons people behave the way they do...
They may have problems at home, when people witness others being nasty to each other at home, they often copy what they've seen.
They feel bad about things and want to hurt other people to make them feel bad too.
They think that picking on people makes them look cool.
They could be jealous of who you are or what you look like.
Maybe they are used to getting a lot of attention and if someone takes their lime light then they don’t like it so they try to hurt them instead
So next time someone tries to bully you or makes fun of you, remember they may just be acting out on their own bad experiences. Forgive them and walk away.
Now...onto some fun stuff!!!
REAL BUT REALLY BIZARRE CRAIGLIST ADS:
“I want some orange juice. I'll give you $2 plus cost if you'll deliver me some orange juice with receipt. I'm too lazy to get it myself. Thank you.”
“Seeking adult drunk clown for 30th birthday party. We need an adult drunk clown who is good at getting drunk and stupid. No need to do any clown tricks, just hang out and drink a s—load.”
“Looking for bridesmaids. So, my fiancee and I are getting married in June. He has 8 groomsmen lined up and I only have 1 bridesmaid. So, I need some girls who are attractive and around my age to stand up in my wedding. You have to be hot but not hotter then me.”
“Pope hats. Because of this terrible economy, I'm having to shut down my business. I have over 1,300 pope hats (replicas) that I really need to get rid of. The pope hats came from China and are a little too small for most adult heads and are also irritating to the skin, so you would need to have long hair or wear a smaller hat underneath (just like the real pope).”
“Personal texting assistant. I get 40-to-50 texts an hour. I cant handle my workload plus texting responsibilities. My phone gets too full and needs to be deleted every couple hours. This is a full-time position and you must be where ever I am at, because my phone is always with me.”
“Woman to sit in my bathtub full of noodles, wearing a bathing suit. I will pay you $1 to sit in my bathtub full of noodles while you wear a one-piece bathing suit. I will not be home, nor will anyone else while you do this. I will leave the key for you and you will sit at your leisure. Do not bring any sauce. I will season the pasta after I return home prior to dinner.”

Transformers got theirs. So did G.I. Joe. Now, Barbie is going to get her own live-action movie. Now comes the question: Who will play Barbie? Jessica Simpson?
Traffic was jammed in Edmonton over the weekend, when a local farmer gave away 45,000 kilograms of potatoes.
A CTV article reports, that if concern about taste has kept you from trying store-brand foods, hesitate no more. In blind tests, trained tasters compared a big national brand with a store brand in 29 food categories. Store and national brands tasted about equally good 19 times.
Have a great Tuesday!!

We received the letter from the school we always hope to avoid each year...the one about the lice. It happens.
When our kids get lice, it only means that they have clean hair, nothing else. Lice only like clean hair, that's why we give our kids hairspray, mousse and gel to use in their hair, and add Tea Tree oil into our shampoo. Lice don't like it when there is product on hair, and they really don't like tea tree oil.
If they do get lice, here's what we did in our house...we used cooking oil to get rid of them. You still have to go through their hair thoroughly to make sure you get BOTH lice out of their hair and the little nits that may be attached to their hair. It's not fun, but you have to make sure you do a good job because if you miss any, you'll be doing it all over again very soon.
We did get a call from a couple of listeners, one said if you put "Dippety Do" throughout your child's hair, cover it with a shower cap and while the sleep, the hair gel is supposed to take care of the lice. Wash their hair in the morning, but please make sure you check again after you've washed their hair to make sure you indeed did get everything out of ther hair.
Another caller said to buy mayonnaise...not "Miracle Whip" ...it has to be real mayo. Do the same thing with the mayo as suggested with the hair gel. It's supposed to work as well. It will take a few washings to get that hair back to pre-mayo state..but it will be worth it. Remember, again you have to make sure you get everything out of that hair.
Hope this school season sees you lice free!

Lotto Super 7 was launched back in June of 1994, and has generated sales of close to $11.5 billion
In the past 15 years, players have won almost $6.7 billion
The largest ever Super 7 jackpot awarded, was back in May 2002…4 winning tickets shared almost $38 million.
One of the great marketing ads for Super 7 was the introduction of their Super 7 heroes, including:
…2 Weeks Notice Man
…Relaxo
…Cosmetica
…Professer Splosh
…and The Splurger
September 18th the final jackpot will be given away, around $21 million. What happens if no one wins it? It will be shared among the winners in the next prize category.
Now comes Lotto Max…this will replace Super 7. You’ll choose 7 numbers from a field of 49. It will cost $5, instead of $2, but it will be for a 3 game play.

September 18th the final jackpot will be given away, around $21 million. What happens if no one wins it? It will be shared among the winners in the next prize category.

Can you believe this is the last weekend of summer? If we're lucky though, the nice weather won't turn fall like for a few weeks yet. We are still camping as much as we can whether it's at a campground or in the back yard. Even when you don't leave home it still feels like camp life when you're playing games and hanging out in the trailer in the yard.
Tomorrow we've got more chances for you to qualify for our "Direct to the Dominican" contest. We'll play the "Song of the Day" at 7:10ish...listen for us to play it later in the day...could be a number of times. Each time we play that song, someone will qualify for that all inclusive trip to Punta Cana! Good Luck!!

Wow!
Facebook pages are full of kind words for Patrick Swayze today.
It was hard for me to talk about his death when we dedicated some breaks to him this morning. Probably because Swayze was a star that was quite visible when I was growing up, starring in "The Outsiders", "Uncommon Valour", "Red Dawn" and of course, "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost" to name a few.
Another movie he was in that you'll probably want to check out is "One Last Dance" in which he starred with his wife Lisa Niemi who also wrote and directed. A beautiful keepsake for her.
Some facts about Swayze.....
*Began his career as a dancer appearing in Disney On Parade as Prince Charming.
*At the age of 19, he met his wife Lisa, then 15 years old, who attended dance lessons with Patrick's mom, Patsy Swayze.
*Chosen by People magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the world in 1991
*Was reportedly offered $6,000,000 to reprise his role of Johnny Castle in a sequel to Dirty Dancing but turned it down.
*Swayze had this to say in 2004, about his drinking....I made a conscious decision to break away from big films when I got alcohol out of my life. I had been sucked into the blockbuster, box-office mentality and it was destroying my sense of purpose in life. The loneliness of fame was messing with my head. Once you've been famous for a while and told your story, it can sound like a lie. You don't know what's true. It sounds like an article someone wrote rather than the essence of who you are.
*I have a great deal of faith in faith; if you believe something strongly enough, it becomes true for you. I would like to believe that my father is right here with me in this room and that he's my guardian angel, that there's life after death -- because if there isn't, why are we here? I don't believe that just flesh and bones can contain from the point of view of physics this very real recorded energy inside of us. Whether it's true or not, we need to believe it.

It's been the number one discussion in our city this past week, the injuries a man suffered in our downtown north core and last night's gathering at Waverly Park.
The events that morning caused outrage throughout the community which led to the creation of a facebook site, discussion in various blogs and in numerous news sites as well as the call for our community to come together.
I saw a lot of them arrive at Waverly Park last night, as I worked at Magnus Theatre. They were with friends and family, a lot of them carrying signs. Later, when they were marching down the street towards the area where the altercation occured, they went past my window. I saw hundreds and hudreds of people of all nationalities, ages and genders. It was inspiring to see so many people come together for one cause...to create one loud voice against violence.
I wondered...when this is all over and people have returned to their homes and are settled back into their lives, what is it they learned that they would take with them from the gathering? What would come of this? We'll see.
Have a great, safe weekend.

There's nothing like family time. lol.

Here are some interesting facts about the band known as THE BEATLES:
Lots of band names were discussed before the members settled on The Beatles. Other names included: "Johnny and the Moondogs"; "Long John and The Beatles"; and "The Silver Beatles".
The band finally became The Beatles in August of 1960.
It was in 1963, when The Beatle’s iconic "drop T" logo made its appearance. It was based on an impromptu sketch design for the front of Ringo Starr’s bass drum.
The Beatles appeared in 5 motion pictures, all of which featured associated soundtrack albums including: A Hard Days Night; Help!; and Magical Mystery Tour.
It’s a little known fact that if you were to add up all of the Beatle’s songs ever recorded…it totals about 10 hours of music!!!
Paul McCartney's song 'Yesterday', which was recently voted the most popular song of the century by a BBC poll, had music written before the lyrics. AND…Paul used the working words 'scrambled eggs' before coming up with 'yesterday' while composing this song.
The Decca Recording Company is famously quoted as saying this back in 1962, when they rejected the band and did not sign them: "We don’t like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out".
And finally…according to EMI and the Guiness Book Of World Records: The Beatles have sold in excess of 1 billion units. That includes records, cassettes and CDs.
A suspect in an Ohio home robbery was arrested when he returned to the scene of the crime two hours later -- to ask the victim for a date! Police say they arrested the 20-year-old in front of the home after a relative of the victim called 911. He's being held on $100,000 bail and is facing a charge of aggravated robbery.

The Dr’s reported in this intense study that in times gone by, it could have proved vital to survival, with the trading of tidbits helping cavemen catch thieves and elect leaders. They go on to say: "Language evolved to allow us to gossip and develop more complex societies. Baboons and chimps have complex societies because individuals know a lot about each other."
It was this week 1979, Canadian cartoonist Lynn Johnson premiered her For Better or For Worse cartoon strip in papers…. Within two years she had 50 million readers worldwide

I was sent to Ridgeway and Edward Streets near Westmount School this morning to hang out with Darlene Archer..the Field Supervisor for Crossing Guards along with Carol and Sharon..the Crossing Guards. We were joined by Chad from the Thunder Bay Police Department as well as Brock and Dan from the Lakehead University Thunderwolves.
As we brought attention to the speed limits and safety of our students, we handed out Shower Radios to passersby. They loved it!!!
There were, however, two young men who did NOT look happy about returning to school. Actually, they SAID they were not happy about being there. Hopefully they were in a better mood after they arrived.
WATER COOLER CONVERSATIONS....
A bit of a weird start to the season, because classes start before Labour Day. Why? This is to meet the Education Act’s mandate to provide a specific number of instructional days. Which is about 186 days for each school year.
The combined operating budgets of both school boards is roughly $250 million.
This past June saw the closure of Hillcrest High School – and today, Superior Vocational Collegiate Institute opens with almost 1,000 students. Also, this past June saw the closure of St. John’s School – and those students now heading over to Corpus Christi.
Iron Range Bus Lines and First Student Canada will be bussing students to school this year!! Did you know that Iron Range has been around for almost 70 years. Started by the Logozzo family in 1940, with one bus. That bus traveled back and forth from Kakabeka everyday. Iron Range now has over 120 buses, with about 150 staff members.
You know that the word “school” is a German word that originally meant “leisure”. AND, who do we have to thank for the concept of schooling? No official documentation on this…but it goes back to ancient Greek, ancient India, and ancient China as far back as 425 A.D.

No trip to Sleeping Giant Provincial Park this weekend. It just was not worth packing up in the rain, setting up the trailer in the rain and then staying in the trailer in the rain. So, we camped out in the back yard!
We had the games, the videos and the conversation we would have had at Sibley, we just didn't have half the work to do it. It would have been fun had the weather broke the slightest bit, but the rain did not stop overnight Friday, and it was too late by the time it finally cleared up Saturday. Next time.
This morning on the show Danny and I told you the Shower Radio's are back!!! We'll be delivering them BUT you can also go to ckpr.com and enter to win one..we'll be giving away three a day! There's one more way you can get one...Saturday's visit us and we'll be giving away 200 Shower Radio's when we are live and on location! See you there!!

Tomorrow is the day, the landfill site opens under a new name and a new entrance, at 5405 Mapleward Road, between John St Road and Oliver Road.
The new facility reflects the community’s commitment to sustainable and progressive management of waste and recycling. Enhancements include improved traffic flow and new directional signage, a new administration centre, weigh scale kiosk and expanded recycling and household hazardous waste areas.
It will be more customer friendly. Residential customers will no longer have to travel up to the garbage face to get rid of waste. When you enter – traffic is split into 2 streams, private and commercial

I've booked another camping excursion at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park next weekend with the family. But this time, I am looking forward to it. After seeing a bear, a few times last time we were there, I am not as scared! Hope that works for me.
We have plans of bringing some wood glue and other craft stuff...so we can make some memories to bring home while we are there. The kids are looking forward to it.
Then...it's time to plan and book our San Diego trip in November! Finally, Joseph has the opportunity to see the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium! We have so many plans! Universal Studios, Disney, I think we may even pop into the zoo...check out the Hollywood sign...will be a blast!

According to a recent poll, some parents would like a webcam in their child's classroom next year to follow their progress. One in four adults in a poll of 2,000 said they think it's a great idea
The Canadian military is thinking of scrapping the requirement that new recruits be Canadian citizens
It was this week in 1995, Dick Assman made his first and only appearance on the David Letterman show…. Letterman had been making fun of the Regina gas station attendants name for some time and he finally had Dick on the show.

I have a favorite spot in my house that I was drawn to last night before I went to bed. It's in the area between the kitchen and the living room.
There are two bookshelves full of pictures in boxes and in albums, framed pictures of the kids, our parents, their weddings, our wedding, memorabilia from trips with the family and books...there are also a bunch of what some may look at as knick knacks, but what we see as memories. A glass Cinderella, a snowglobe with Mickey Mouse, to remind us of our trip to Disney. A piece of art Victoria created in her first year of University, pictures of Kayla's two little men, flowers pressed into books that Matthew gave me. It's an area alive with memories and I love going there to revisit all the experiences we've shared.
I got to thinking about this when I was going through and getting rid of some stuff in our house. A lot of people enjoy the minimalist style, which is really great because everything is neat and clean. But I also think we need to keep something of ourselves out to remind us how good life really is.
FUNNIEST JOKE OF ALL TIME!!! (according to Danny)
A guy fell asleep on the beach for several hours and got horrible sunburn, specifically to his upper legs.
He went to the hospital and was promptly admitted after being diagnosed with second degree burns.
With his skin already starting to blister, and the severe pain he was in, the doctor prescribed continuous intravenous feeding with saline electrolytes, a sedative and a Viagra pill every four hours.
The nurse, who was rather astounded asked, "What good will Viagra do for him doctor"?
The doctor replied, "It won't do anything for his condition, but it'll keep the sheets off his legs!

We've brought in the herbs from our garden as well as some of the brocolli we planted. Our very first harvest....successful harvest. Yesterday our daughter Victoria got out the dehydrator and jammed it full of herbs to get ready for storage. The smell filled the house...mmm...was very nice. We do have some other plants in our garden...corn..which has not really gotten very tall so I'm not sure we're going to get anything out of that. Our peppers looked really nice..then they were gone so I suspect some little rodent has made off with them. Oh well.... It was finally a good year for us as far as gardening goes so there won't be any complaining.
Then there's those stinking earwigs!! 10 were found in the back stair area the other morning. They are so gross to look at but at least they don't carry diseases and do not bite.

Former president Bill Clinton just got an interesting offer from a 39-year-old former councilor from Nairobi. He's offered Clinton 20 cows and 40 goats in exchange for the hand of his daughter Chelsea in marriage. It's apparently the second time the man has made the offer. The man is actually already married, but that's not a problem as polygamy is A-OK in Kenya. The Clintons turned him down.
The 4 star Crown Plaza Hotel in Venice, Italy mistakenly posted a weekend getaway at their hotel for just 1 penny. Not surprisingly, the hotel received bookings for the equivalent of 1,400 room nights. The hotel normally costs an average of $200 per night. The company said, although it was an error on their part – the hotel is committed to honoring the 1 cent rate for guests who have a valid confirmation.
A Russian oil billionaire is building a new yacht…that measure 557 feet long. It’s called the “Eclipse”…and it should be ready early next year. The pricetag: $500 million.
A man in Greenwich, Connecticut broke into his neighbor's home over the weekend while the owner was away -- not to steal anything but to cut his pubic hair and leave the trimmings behind. Police say the man felt guilty about his actions and ended up telling the neighbor what he did. She later called the police on him. The man was charged with first degree burglary and was released on a $2000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court today

Earwigs!! Ick!! They are everywhere..including under the glass of a picture in my kitchen...that was gross. We had to take the picture apart to get it out and when we took it off the wall, there was another one on the back of the picture. Then we noticed that even after we closely looked at our dog's dish and did not see any when we brought it in the house, we would find one or two on it just moments later as we were filling the dish. We took the handles off and found them, squirming under the handle. That's how they were getting in...hiding inside the space between the handle and the dish where we could not see. So, we are leaving the handles off.
I have heard that if you place wet newspapers in a plastic bag and leave it out overnight, you'll bait and trap them. So if you've also got a case of earwigs, maybe that will help you too.

Am looking forward to some much needed quiet time tonight. I'll be working at Perfect Fit Lingerie from noon til four...where you can come and get in on the wild card spot for our "Do you Think I'm Sexy?" contest...then it's off to take my little man shopping for back to school stuff. When we get home...it's on the couch with a movie and a monster size bowl of popcorn. Ahhhh. Then the weekend begins and I'll be looking for another day when there might be some relaxing...
I took the kids out for a long walk yesterday and we ended up at Vance Chapman Public School on Huron. We found some good memories there! Matthew looked across the field and saw that the board had placed new play equipment in the yard..and it turns out it's from Balsam Street! The school closed a couple of years ago and Matthew and his friends went there. He was happy to see it, it brought back some good memories for him. I wonder why they didn't take it from Balsam though and send it to the new school, Woodcrest. That would have made sense to me, considering the play equipment they have now is shared by a large number of classes and if I remember correctly, Matt's class gets it for one or two recesses a week. And that's it.
Anyways, it was good to see the equipment up and ready for kids to enjoy!!

You can save money on how much ink your computer printer goes through just by changing the font…. Some suggest up to $80 dollars a year can be saved if you move to the most economical font…. Century gothic…..the default font for most computers is Arial which is actually quite an ink guzzler… and some people could be using 60% more ink per page than they need to….and this doesn’t even include using smaller fonts so you can fit more on a page
The 21st edition of the World’s Longest Yard Sale starts today …. The yard sale takes place along a 450 mile route on Highway 127 from Alabama through Tennessee to Kentucky…..there are 4,000 vendors and they’re expecting a quarter of a million shoppers

Am planning our next camping trip...I think we're going to Sibley again..this time..we're using the washroom in the trailer at night. I was so scared of running into one of the bears that was hanging out in the area, I did not go ALL night!! This is not good.
More fun at the beach, roasting marshmallows and I think we may even break out some board games this time. Will still keep a watchful eye for bears though.

An interesting lawsuit that’s generating a lot of discussion. Most likely nothing will come of it…but…it’s making people think. A 27 year old woman in New York just filed a $70,000 lawsuit against the college she attended, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in information technology, Monroe College. She claims she’s entitled to recoup her tuition money because she cannot find gainful employment.

Welcome back to your work week! Well, most of you....
It seems that when it’s when we least expect to have a good time that we end up having the most fun. I was NOT looking forward to going camping over the long weekend at a friends camp. Charlene and her husband Jim had been asking for us to come out to their camp for quite some time now and I finally said I would go this past weekend.
I had been told it took an hour and a half to drive to the lake, then a boat ride across to get to the camp...this did nothing for me. All I could think about was bugs and bears, if you recall from an earlier blog, our last camping trip was full of both. We arrived to the landing and loaded the boat, then the trek across the lake began. Surprisingly, it was less than five minutes...and to look up at the cabin and see what these two had done with their property..was breathtaking.
Thoughts of bugs and bears soon evaporated.
The weather was another creature. Friday night, before dark set in, we set out to catch some fish. One was hooked but we let it go when we decided it was time to head back to camp where we filled the next few hours playing Cranium. It was cloudy, rainy and windy...that night and all the next day.
Saturday, it poured most of the day, but quite often throughout the day we heard exclamations from Joe and Jim...”look! blue sky! (which were just teeny tiny spots through the clouds) It’s clearing up!” but it never lasted. So, we filled the day with board games...Clue, Sorry and Dominoes. Donita and Chris, also friends of ours have a camp on the same lake and came over for dinner...they also got in on the Dominoes and after dinner we cracked open the Taboo!
Sunday, Jim and Joe finally went fishing and caught nothing..but at least they got out!!

G.I. Joe turned 45 over the weekend. How popular is G.I. Joe? 400 million G.I. Joe’s have been sold worldwide. AND…get ready….this Friday in theatres it’s G.I. Joe – The Rise Of Cobra opens. Early estimates predict this to be the summer blockbuster!!!!
Space Shuttle Endeavour landed safely last Friday morning in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Spent 16 days in space, and traveled almost 10.5 million km’s.
This next story almost sounds like a headline from a really bad tabloid – but – in fact…it’s true. A 28 year old woman in the Philippines gave birth to a baby with 2 heads. The newborn is still in ICU. The parents have 5 other children, and no history of twins in their families.
What do you think your cell phone is worth? A new British study revealed that 35% of youths aged 16-24 would not give up their cell phone even if they were offered $2 million.

THE LONG WEEKEND IS HERE!!!!!
Lots to do in the city including baseball..you can cheer on our Border Cats tonight and tomorrow night. Fort William Historical Park has it's "Fort Under Seige" reenactment this weekend and of course...Festa Italiana at the Italian Cultural Centre Sunday and Monday. You just might see Danny there! Hint...look near the Gnocci tent. He'll either be in line, or lying on the grass, cause I think he plans on eating a LOT of Gnocci.
We are going camping with the group of people who we went to Jamaica when I ran that half marathon....I suspect it will be just as much fun! Sunday we come home from camp to rush out for another 45 minute drive in the opposite direction in Kaministiquia for a family birthday party..and Monday...the show and some sleep. Seriously, I go to work to get a break from it all.
Have a fabulous weekend and stay safe!!!

Golfing was a blast last night! Penny Kitching and her crew were a lot of fun! We had to wait for the storm to pass through....it looked bad with all the thunder and lightning...then the skies cleared and the sun was shining...just for us to play golf.

Lying has become part of our everyday life...we lie and are lied to about 200 times a day. Modern technology isn’t helping, as texting and email just seem to make truth-bending even easier. What's interesting is that usually we're fooled by lies. Despite urban myths about telltale signs like lack of eye contact, we're generally no more successful at detecting lies from facial clues than using a coin-toss.
After centuries of teaching their children to drink wine with every meal, the city of Milan, Italy is trying to enforce a ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol to anyone under age 16. The new law comes into effect after a study showed that one-third of 11-year-olds in Milan have alcohol related problems. From now on, anyone caught serving a teenager alcohol faces a fine of up to $700.
Thanks to “Harry Potter” books and movies, college ‘Quidditch’ (the broomstick-riding sport) is on the rise. With over 200 colleges expressing interest, ‘Quidditch’ is spreading like wildfire. Similar to soccer, players try to get the ball (‘Quaffle’) into the opposing goal, except they try and do so while riding around on a broomstick just like in the movies ... only on the ground. The game even has its own website, where you can access recent news and a history of the sport.

I am definitely back in the swing of things after my week of holidays two weeks ago..I don't think I can remember the last time I had a holiday that was not jam packed with a bazillion things to do...scheduling daily events...instead it was a camping trip followed by 4 days at home.
The first day at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park was a day for getting familiar with our surroundings. For me, that meant mor carefully reading signs. I was walking with Joe, we were near the "comfort station" which means flushing toilets, showers and a washer and dryer. I really had to go so I rushed in. In my stall, I glanced over to lower part of the next stall. I thought to myself "wow, that lady has big feet!" At that moment a realization came over me. Had I gone into the men's washroom? No. She had big feet.
When I was leaving my stall...so was...he...I laughed and said Oh my gosh! Did I go into the men's room...running to the door I noticed another guy..using the urinal...that was beside the sink. Always double check the signs.
The camping was fun...of course it was slow moving, and quite nice actually, except for the occasional bears that would wander into our site. The fact is, we are in their territory so we really should not expect they would stay clear, they wouldn't know to. They smell food and want some. It's simple.
Victoria and Matthew were very close to a deer that had come very close to our site so I took some pictures..it was breathtaking. The deer though, suddenly turned it's head to the left then bolted. I was curious because it was a gravel road the deer was looking at and I could not hear a vehicle on it and I couldn't hear people talking...but I did SEE furry, brown feet making their way up the road. "Bear" was all Imanaged to get out as I turned towards my trailer and headed inside...with no kids following. I actually had to go back and tell them to move it and get in the trailer....but did manage to take a picture of the bear while I was herding them in.
Last week I had a friend from out of town pop in - two nights in a row. She came over at 9:30 both nights and left just before midnight. I knew I should have gone to bed earlier...but when a friend from out of town visits...you visit. I loved spending time with Signy, we've been friends since we were 12!!!
Tomorrow Jordan Staal brings the Stanley Cup to Thunder Bay!!! First at Fort William Gardens from 10-12...doors open at 9..then he'll be at the Port Arthur Stadium..It's the Northwoods League All Star game...lots going on there..home run derby is at 4...lots happening tomorrow there..the game starts at 6:05!

Sad news dominating news yesterday and today...first the passing of Farrah Fawcett at the age of 62, after a long fight with cancer. We remember her from Charlie's Angels, even though she was really on the show for one season, with occasional visits here and there. Then there's the swimsuit poster...Farrah in her red bathing suit...I saw one hanging in one of the sales guys office this morning. Rest In Peace Farrah.
Then came the so very shocking news that Michael Jackson died after suffering cardiac arrest. The reports don't go into detail as to who was with him at the time, or if perhaps he had been on his own before he passed away.
I know there are a lot of people who think this kind of story may not deserve to be the top story with all that's going on in the world these days, but Michael Jackson was part of growing up for a lot of us. His music was tremendous in our lives, and my own son, who is 12 and friends have been fans for some time now.
I got this story off the wire this morning, it's an interesting take on how news spreads in our time....
It was a where-were-you moment in a digital age.Michael Jackson's death was not learned from a T-V news anchor. Instead, the news first spread online like wildfire across newssites, social media networks and Twitter.
The celebrity website T-M-Z (zee)-dot-com site broke the news of Jackson's death late yesterday afternoon. It was a huge scoop for T-M-Z, though many did not believe itsreport until it was matched by more established news organizations. But T-M-Z managing editor Harvey Levin says they wouldn't haveput the story online if they weren't positive.
Jackson dominated the discussion on Twitter, generating the mosttweets per second since Barack Obama was elected U-S president in November.
The tweeting tripped up Twitter briefly, but engineers quicklyresponded to keep the service running.Within a few hours of the news of Jackson's death, his iconic1982 album ``Thriller'' was the Number One album on i-Tunes.(The Associated Press)

8 Ways Money Can Actually Buy Happiness!!
1 - Strengthen Bonds...studies show having close relationships is one of the most important elements for happiness. So, if you can afford to travel to see family members, or buy your buddies drinks at the bar, you'll be happier
2-End Marital Conflict...Are and your spouse constantly arguring about how filthy the house is?...or how you never get any time together because of the kids? It's not such a problem when you can hire a maid or a nanny...
3- Upgrade Your Exercise....One of the best ways to improve your mood is to exercise...and it's a lot easier to do that when you can afford a new iPod, a gym membership or some cool new running shoes....
4-Have Some Fun...Obviously, when you can afford to do the things you truly love, like fly fishing, travelling or skiing for example...you're bound to be happier than if you COULDN'T afford those activities
5-Serenity and Security...Paying down your debts and putting a little money away will give you peace of mine...and that will lead to happiness
6-Pay for Healthier Food....fruits, vegetables and other healthy foods are more expensive than junk food. But healthwise, it'll pay off in the long run
7-Spending Money on Other People....One of the best ways to make yourself happy..is to make others happy. Giving to charity, or just helping out a friend can do a lot to improve your own well-being
8-Think About Your Priorities...When you're honest with yourself about what you REALLY need to be happy..and you can afford to do whatever it might be..that's happiness
Personally, I am happy with having a few bucks put aside just in case.....

We're (all right, Joe is) building a fence that completely covers our yard, so our dogs don't need to be on a chain anymore. It's tough when there is only one chain and two dogs...Elvis had his own run last year, but he wrecked the grass with his running in circles. It's growing back now. So, with the fence up all around the yard and locked gates so noone accidentally lets one or both of them out they can be free in the back. It will be awesome for them!

I was driving towards Boulevard Lake the other day when something came flying out of the SUV ahead of me. It was one of those cheese and cracker packages, empty. I don't understand why people have to throw garbage out thier windows.
There are many places that have garbage cans so you can empty your trash pretty much wherever you go..the gas station, Boulevard Lake itself has many garbage bins for your litter...so why would anyone choose to just toss their trash out the window? Someone else is obviously going to have to pick it up. Yeesh.
