Yes, it's Monday again. Who wants to return to work? For that matter, who wants to go outside to get to the vehicle that gets us to work? So cold.
I am working on when the newest member of our family will arrive....she is an eight month old Bassett Hound. We were told someone was looking for a new home for her..so we said of course...our next thought was "what will we name her?". We thought of many names...Because we already have our Jack Russell Terrier, Elvis...we thought..what about Aaron, Graceland, Presley, Tupelo or even Priscilla? We then determined that the dog likely has a name..and we should stick to that. We received a call last night...with more information about our new pup...her name....Presley. It's like the stars aligned and it was meant to be. It is however, going to sound weird...if while outside the dogs get out of hand..and we have to call them...Elvis!! Presley!!! This is going to be great!!!
The All Star NHL game was awesome last night...unfortunately, Staal's team lost to Lidstrom...11-10. It was cool...some players had mics on...so the commentators were able to speak to them AS THE GAME WAS BEING PLAYED!!! I loved this!! Of course, this was a game played more for entertainment than anything else...so no superserious attitudes on the ice last night. It was nice to hear that Patrick Sharp was chosen as MVP of the game with Eric Staal right behind. Then it was the football Pro Bowl. I watched about five minutes of that game...watching Joe's favorites...sorry...I just cannot remember their names right now!! I was tired. lol.
It's bubble wrap appreciation day!!
An annual event on the last Monday of January celebrating the padding we all like to pop. Check this site out....

Get your bubble wrap out and pop away!!!
I thought this story was interesting this morning...thank goodness my kids are brutally honest with me (though they do not think I try to dress younger)...
1/3 OF GIRLS THINKS MOM'S CLOTHES ARE EMBARRASSING:
A third of girls consider their mom's clothing choices to be embarrassing.
One in four believes their mother wears clothes that are too revealing, and more than two thirds claim never to want to dress like them.
Less than a third think their mother dresses appropriately -- with many claiming she shops in the wrong stores or simply tries to copy young fashions

Thursday is here...it is one of my favorite days!! Mainly because it is followed by Friday!!!
In the news this morning there was as story about a male and a female caught in a home at about 4 this morning. They were each 31 years old. The male did get away..but police caught up to him not too far from the house. Yesterday we told you about a women who was pushed as she was getting into her vehicle in the McIntyre Centre..at 4:30 IN THE AFTERNOON!! A bold daylight robbery. This all makes me so upset. With the store robberies and the increasing credit union robberies...it makes me wonder where it is safe to go. I know it sounds negative...but I am thinking what others are also thinking.
Please keep an eye on what's going on around you...we need to watch out for our fellow Thunder Bay residents and get help when it is needed.
We talked about this yesterday morning...we didn't all start out with great jobs and spouses who helped boost our income. We didn't always have the things we have now.
I myself figured out my plan to get where I wanted to go way back when...and started on my path.
I just wish these people who would rather go for the quick money would just get a job. They might appreciate what they have and realize that just because it's in front of you..it doesn't mean you can just take it.
That's just what I think.
Have a great Thursday!!!!
THE AVERAGE COUPLE ARGUES 312 TIMES A YEAR
The average couple will argue with each other a whopping 312 times a year – mostly over cleanliness. It was also found couples are most likely to have an argument after dinner on a Thursday evening with everything kicking off at just before 8 p.m. The average fight also lasts just 10 minutes.
Researchers discovered stubble in the sink, dirty marks in the toilet and taking too long to get ready are regular triggers for arguments. Other reasons for relationship fights include flicking through TV channels and not replacing an empty toilet roll.
TOP ARGUMENT TRIGGERS
1. Stubble in the sink
2. Dirty marks in the toilet
3. Flicking TV channels
4. Not replacing the toilet roll
5. Leaving the seat up
6. Leaving lights on
7. Leaving dirty cups around the house
8. Leaving wet towels on the floor/bed
9. Hoarding stuff
10. Not flushing the toilet

Welcome to Tuesday!! Here are some of the topics we covered this morning!!
MORE WAYS TO BEAT THE WINTER BLUES:
A few more tips to help you survive the cold & dark of mid-Winter ...
• Take a vitamin D supplement, which has mood-enhancing benefits. In colder months, you just can’t get enough naturally from the Sun’s rays.
• Re-decorate. When it’s grey outside, make it bright inside. Add splashes of color to your home. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, paint your walls yellow for maximum happiness infusion.
• Pick up a few buds from a local shop to display in your apartment for some much-needed freshness and a little life.
• Plan a mini outdoor getaway. Don’t spend your days-off inside and waste daylight you can enjoy. Go sledding or explore a nearby town.
• Have a romantic dinner by candlelight. Take advantage of the darkness and turn your apartment into the ultimate sultry escape.

It's a day to eat haggis and drink scotch!!!
It is Robbie Burns' birthday!!!
One thing that we do hold here in Thunder Bay is the Robbie Burns dinner...(usually the closest Saturday to his birthday)
Elsewhere, Burns Night is celebrated on 25 January with Burns suppers around the world, and is still more widely observed than the official national day, St. Andrew's Day.
The first Burns supper in The Mother Club in Greenock was held on what they thought was his birthday on 29 January 1802, but in 1803 they discovered from the Ayr parish records that the correct date was 25 January 1759.
The format of Burns suppers has not changed since. The basic format starts with a general welcome and announcements, followed with the Selkirk Grace. After the grace, comes the piping and cutting of the haggis, where Burns' famous Address To a Haggis is read and the haggis is cut open.
The event usually allows for people to start eating just after the haggis is presented. This is when the reading called the "immortal memory", an overview of Burns' life and work, is given; the event usually concludes with the singing of Auld Lang Syne...which Burns is credited with writing..

Happy Monday!!
Hope everyone made it through the weekend without losing it because of the cold!! Let's face it...being cold for so long...being in the dark more than when we are in the light...can have negative effects on us. Here are some ways to beat the winter blahs...
WAYS TO BEAT THE WINTER BLUES:
• Turn on your lights as soon as your alarm goes off. Trying to get ready for work in the dark will only make you sleepier and more sluggish.
• Wake up to the smell of coffee. Set your coffeemaker to turn on a few minutes before you rise and breathe in the irresistible scent.
• Bundle up and take a walk during lunch. The artificial light you’re under all day is no substitute for the real thing. Getting out and actually soaking up whatever sunshine you can while breathing fresh air will lift your spirits.
• Make ‘Happy Hour’ pacts. It can be so easy to run home straight after work, but parking yourself in front of the TV or Facebook every night will only depress you. Agree to meet your friends once a week for drinks.
• Have before-dinner fancy time. Is there any better way to take advantage of the last hour of daylight?

We'll have more info on how you can beat the winter blues tomorrow!!
WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE WORLD?
We saw this story from Naples, Italy – A 28-year-old man who was shot in the head by a stray bullet during New Year's Eve celebrations is now recovering after ... sneezing it out through his nose. While sitting in a waiting room awaiting a doctor’s appointment, he sneezed and the bullet shot out of his right nostril. Unbelievable!!
AHHH...GARLIC!!
Feel a cold coming on? To relieve symptoms, natural medicine experts recommend that, in addition to vitamin C, you also take regular doses of garlic. – “Natural Health
Plus.......we received an email about this last week...
if you type in "horrible men drivers' in the Google Search
....you'll get a correction that says: 'did you mean horrible women drivers'?
Have a great Monday!!!
