If you have kids you will understand why at this time of year posting information about bullying and making fun of others is important.

It doesn't just pertain to kids though, this covers adults in the workplace as well. If you are bullied, which can include being made fun of, you may want to consider the reasons people behave the way they do...

They may have problems at home, when people witness others being nasty to each other at home, they often copy what they've seen.
They feel bad about things and want to hurt other people to make them feel bad too.
They think that picking on people makes them look cool.
They could be jealous of who you are or what you look like.
Maybe they are used to getting a lot of attention and if someone takes their lime light then they don’t like it so they try to hurt them instead

So next time someone tries to bully you or makes fun of you, remember they may just be acting out on their own bad experiences. Forgive them and walk away.

Now...onto some fun stuff!!!

REAL BUT REALLY BIZARRE CRAIGLIST ADS:

“I want some orange juice. I'll give you $2 plus cost if you'll deliver me some orange juice with receipt. I'm too lazy to get it myself. Thank you.”

“Seeking adult drunk clown for 30th birthday party. We need an adult drunk clown who is good at getting drunk and stupid. No need to do any clown tricks, just hang out and drink a s—load.”

“Looking for bridesmaids. So, my fiancee and I are getting married in June. He has 8 groomsmen lined up and I only have 1 bridesmaid. So, I need some girls who are attractive and around my age to stand up in my wedding. You have to be hot but not hotter then me.”

“Pope hats. Because of this terrible economy, I'm having to shut down my business. I have over 1,300 pope hats (replicas) that I really need to get rid of. The pope hats came from China and are a little too small for most adult heads and are also irritating to the skin, so you would need to have long hair or wear a smaller hat underneath (just like the real pope).”

“Personal texting assistant. I get 40-to-50 texts an hour. I cant handle my workload plus texting responsibilities. My phone gets too full and needs to be deleted every couple hours. This is a full-time position and you must be where ever I am at, because my phone is always with me.”

“Woman to sit in my bathtub full of noodles, wearing a bathing suit. I will pay you $1 to sit in my bathtub full of noodles while you wear a one-piece bathing suit. I will not be home, nor will anyone else while you do this. I will leave the key for you and you will sit at your leisure. Do not bring any sauce. I will season the pasta after I return home prior to dinner.”

We received the letter from the school we always hope to avoid each year...the one about the lice. It happens.

When our kids get lice, it only means that they have clean hair, nothing else. Lice only like clean hair, that's why we give our kids hairspray, mousse and gel to use in their hair, and add Tea Tree oil into our shampoo. Lice don't like it when there is product on hair, and they really don't like tea tree oil.

If they do get lice, here's what we did in our house...we used cooking oil to get rid of them. You still have to go through their hair thoroughly to make sure you get BOTH lice out of their hair and the little nits that may be attached to their hair. It's not fun, but you have to make sure you do a good job because if you miss any, you'll be doing it all over again very soon.

We did get a call from a couple of listeners, one said if you put "Dippety Do" throughout your child's hair, cover it with a shower cap and while the sleep, the hair gel is supposed to take care of the lice. Wash their hair in the morning, but please make sure you check again after you've washed their hair to make sure you indeed did get everything out of ther hair.

Another caller said to buy mayonnaise...not "Miracle Whip" ...it has to be real mayo. Do the same thing with the mayo as suggested with the hair gel. It's supposed to work as well. It will take a few washings to get that hair back to pre-mayo state..but it will be worth it. Remember, again you have to make sure you get everything out of that hair.

Hope this school season sees you lice free!

September 18th the final jackpot will be given away, around $21 million. What happens if no one wins it? It will be shared among the winners in the next prize category.

Now comes Lotto Max…this will replace Super 7. You’ll choose 7 numbers from a field of 49. It will cost $5, instead of $2, but it will be for a 3 game play.

Wow!

Facebook pages are full of kind words for Patrick Swayze today.
It was hard for me to talk about his death when we dedicated some breaks to him this morning. Probably because Swayze was a star that was quite visible when I was growing up, starring in "The Outsiders", "Uncommon Valour", "Red Dawn" and of course, "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost" to name a few.
Another movie he was in that you'll probably want to check out is "One Last Dance" in which he starred with his wife Lisa Niemi who also wrote and directed. A beautiful keepsake for her.

Some facts about Swayze.....

*Began his career as a dancer appearing in Disney On Parade as Prince Charming.

*At the age of 19, he met his wife Lisa, then 15 years old, who attended dance lessons with Patrick's mom, Patsy Swayze.

*Chosen by People magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the world in 1991

*Was reportedly offered $6,000,000 to reprise his role of Johnny Castle in a sequel to Dirty Dancing but turned it down.

*Swayze had this to say in 2004, about his drinking....I made a conscious decision to break away from big films when I got alcohol out of my life. I had been sucked into the blockbuster, box-office mentality and it was destroying my sense of purpose in life. The loneliness of fame was messing with my head. Once you've been famous for a while and told your story, it can sound like a lie. You don't know what's true. It sounds like an article someone wrote rather than the essence of who you are.

*I have a great deal of faith in faith; if you believe something strongly enough, it becomes true for you. I would like to believe that my father is right here with me in this room and that he's my guardian angel, that there's life after death -- because if there isn't, why are we here? I don't believe that just flesh and bones can contain from the point of view of physics this very real recorded energy inside of us. Whether it's true or not, we need to believe it.

It's been the number one discussion in our city this past week, the injuries a man suffered in our downtown north core and last night's gathering at Waverly Park.

The events that morning caused outrage throughout the community which led to the creation of a facebook site, discussion in various blogs and in numerous news sites as well as the call for our community to come together.

I saw a lot of them arrive at Waverly Park last night, as I worked at Magnus Theatre. They were with friends and family, a lot of them carrying signs. Later, when they were marching down the street towards the area where the altercation occured, they went past my window. I saw hundreds and hudreds of people of all nationalities, ages and genders. It was inspiring to see so many people come together for one cause...to create one loud voice against violence.

I wondered...when this is all over and people have returned to their homes and are settled back into their lives, what is it they learned that they would take with them from the gathering? What would come of this? We'll see.

Have a great, safe weekend.

Here are some interesting facts about the band known as THE BEATLES:

Lots of band names were discussed before the members settled on The Beatles. Other names included: "Johnny and the Moondogs"; "Long John and The Beatles"; and "The Silver Beatles".
The band finally became The Beatles in August of 1960.

It was in 1963, when The Beatle’s iconic "drop T" logo made its appearance. It was based on an impromptu sketch design for the front of Ringo Starr’s bass drum.

The Beatles appeared in 5 motion pictures, all of which featured associated soundtrack albums including: A Hard Days Night; Help!; and Magical Mystery Tour.

It’s a little known fact that if you were to add up all of the Beatle’s songs ever recorded…it totals about 10 hours of music!!!

Paul McCartney's song 'Yesterday', which was recently voted the most popular song of the century by a BBC poll, had music written before the lyrics. AND…Paul used the working words 'scrambled eggs' before coming up with 'yesterday' while composing this song.

The Decca Recording Company is famously quoted as saying this back in 1962, when they rejected the band and did not sign them: "We don’t like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out".

And finally…according to EMI and the Guiness Book Of World Records: The Beatles have sold in excess of 1 billion units. That includes records, cassettes and CDs.
