THE LONG WEEKEND IS HERE!!!!!
Lots to do in the city including baseball..you can cheer on our Border Cats tonight and tomorrow night. Fort William Historical Park has it's "Fort Under Seige" reenactment this weekend and of course...Festa Italiana at the Italian Cultural Centre Sunday and Monday. You just might see Danny there! Hint...look near the Gnocci tent. He'll either be in line, or lying on the grass, cause I think he plans on eating a LOT of Gnocci.
We are going camping with the group of people who we went to Jamaica when I ran that half marathon....I suspect it will be just as much fun! Sunday we come home from camp to rush out for another 45 minute drive in the opposite direction in Kaministiquia for a family birthday party..and Monday...the show and some sleep. Seriously, I go to work to get a break from it all.
Have a fabulous weekend and stay safe!!!

Can you believe this is the end of July already? I’m not talking about the weather, but how fast time has flown by!! August is just a couple of days away....weather wise, we could use a little more sun.
The long weekend will be a lot of fun...camping with friends..as much as I do gripe, I really do end up enjoying myself. A family birthday party and a relaxing day at home Monday (after the show). Am looking forward to it. Would love to hear what you are doing with your weekend!!

Interesting comments from Canadian singer Neil Young on this date back in 2008…that’s still gets brought up…in any interview with Neil. It was this time last year…that Neil Young trashed the Apple Company….he said the iPod was just convenient and that the quality of the sound of the music had taken a backseat…..he then compared the quality of the sound from an iPod to… "a Fisher Price toy".
The Tazer has certainly received a bad reputation lately. Listen to this; The company that makes the Tazer is now coming out with a new version that can now Tazer three people without being re-loaded.
Jason Mraz’s hit song "I’m Yours" - is about to set a new record for longest time on the Billboard Hot 100 chart…it’s at 66 weeks and going strong… the old record was LeAnn Rimes’ "How Do I Live" which lasted 69 weeks

Golfing was a blast last night! Penny Kitching and her crew were a lot of fun! We had to wait for the storm to pass through....it looked bad with all the thunder and lightning...then the skies cleared and the sun was shining...just for us to play golf.
We made it to the ninth hole just before it got dark...I think we did a good job caddying for them..they may have another story. We may just be getting a call from Penny and her husband Dave...

Lying has become part of our everyday life...we lie and are lied to about 200 times a day. Modern technology isn’t helping, as texting and email just seem to make truth-bending even easier. What's interesting is that usually we're fooled by lies. Despite urban myths about telltale signs like lack of eye contact, we're generally no more successful at detecting lies from facial clues than using a coin-toss.
After centuries of teaching their children to drink wine with every meal, the city of Milan, Italy is trying to enforce a ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol to anyone under age 16. The new law comes into effect after a study showed that one-third of 11-year-olds in Milan have alcohol related problems. From now on, anyone caught serving a teenager alcohol faces a fine of up to $700.
Thanks to “Harry Potter” books and movies, college ‘Quidditch’ (the broomstick-riding sport) is on the rise. With over 200 colleges expressing interest, ‘Quidditch’ is spreading like wildfire. Similar to soccer, players try to get the ball (‘Quaffle’) into the opposing goal, except they try and do so while riding around on a broomstick just like in the movies ... only on the ground. The game even has its own website, where you can access recent news and a history of the sport.

I am definitely back in the swing of things after my week of holidays two weeks ago..I don't think I can remember the last time I had a holiday that was not jam packed with a bazillion things to do...scheduling daily events...instead it was a camping trip followed by 4 days at home.
The first day at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park was a day for getting familiar with our surroundings. For me, that meant mor carefully reading signs. I was walking with Joe, we were near the "comfort station" which means flushing toilets, showers and a washer and dryer. I really had to go so I rushed in. In my stall, I glanced over to lower part of the next stall. I thought to myself "wow, that lady has big feet!" At that moment a realization came over me. Had I gone into the men's washroom? No. She had big feet.
When I was leaving my stall...so was...he...I laughed and said Oh my gosh! Did I go into the men's room...running to the door I noticed another guy..using the urinal...that was beside the sink. Always double check the signs.
The camping was fun...of course it was slow moving, and quite nice actually, except for the occasional bears that would wander into our site. The fact is, we are in their territory so we really should not expect they would stay clear, they wouldn't know to. They smell food and want some. It's simple.
Victoria and Matthew were very close to a deer that had come very close to our site so I took some pictures..it was breathtaking. The deer though, suddenly turned it's head to the left then bolted. I was curious because it was a gravel road the deer was looking at and I could not hear a vehicle on it and I couldn't hear people talking...but I did SEE furry, brown feet making their way up the road. "Bear" was all Imanaged to get out as I turned towards my trailer and headed inside...with no kids following. I actually had to go back and tell them to move it and get in the trailer....but did manage to take a picture of the bear while I was herding them in.
Last week I had a friend from out of town pop in - two nights in a row. She came over at 9:30 both nights and left just before midnight. I knew I should have gone to bed earlier...but when a friend from out of town visits...you visit. I loved spending time with Signy, we've been friends since we were 12!!!
Tomorrow Jordan Staal brings the Stanley Cup to Thunder Bay!!! First at Fort William Gardens from 10-12...doors open at 9..then he'll be at the Port Arthur Stadium..It's the Northwoods League All Star game...lots going on there..home run derby is at 4...lots happening tomorrow there..the game starts at 6:05!

Did you know that….at Niagra Falls, 90% of the water…spills over Horseshoe Falls. AND…the water going over Horseshoe Falls…falls so fast, that it could fill 500,000 bathtubs in one second

There’s a new social networking site that you may want to join. It’s called “Skinbook”, which is just like Facebook…BUT…for nudists. The operators of the site say they’ve already received 25,000 applications to join the site….so far, they’ve accepted 6,000.
The 50 year old famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada" sign that greets visitors to the city was vandalized on Monday. Tourists discovered that someone had used red marker to scrawl graffiti on the main part of the sign as well as on one of its legs.
Things that make you go hmmmm:
…if everyone is on the bandwagon…who’s gonna pull?
…is your shin-bone just a device for finding furniture in a dark room
…if 4 out of 5 people suffer from diarrhea…does that mean 1 person actually enjoys it?
